Gralaine Vineyard is located at Mount Duneed, between Geelong and Torquay, just off Great Ocean Road, along the Bellarine wine trail, in South Eastern Victoria.

Gralaine Vineyard is extensively planted to Merlot and is the realization of a bold dream for owners Graeme and Elaine Carroll, who state "We would like to think it is possible to make a wine like Petrus, at Geelong."

Petrus is often quoted as the world's most expensive wine. It is usually made 95 per cent with Merlot. World wine authority Hugh Johnson says of Petrus that it is a massively rich and concentrated wine.

"Each vintage adds lustre." he says - and adds almost as an afterthought "The price, too, is legendary."

The Carrolls' fastidious approach to their vineyard's trellising, disease controls, pruning levels, irrigation and all the little things that go into hand grooming a vineyard, results each year in healthy, fully ripe fruit ready to be turned into wine that is easy for the winemaker (at Hanging Rock Winery) to get into balance.

Gralaine's fruit ripeness comes through not as the ‘jaminess' you are inclined to get with so many other current experiments with the now fashionable Merlot, but as an opulent red, rich in varietal plum-like character and touched only subtly by oak since no completely new oak is used in the making.
