The Kennedy & Wilson name, synonymous with fine chocolate, was borne from inspiration gained from travelling around France during a wine “fact finding mission” by winemaker Peter Wilson.
Returning to his oenological roots, Peter has been joined by his brother, James, to produce wine with the same care and attention, and reliance on the finest raw ingredients, that he adopted for the chocolate business.
An alliance with Quarry Ridge Vineyard was formed several years ago, to combine winemaking with premium fruit grown at 400 metres altitude on the southern side of the Great Dividing Range in Victoria.
The 12 ha vineyard lies on the western side of a granite cap, near Kilmore. Vineyard soils are red granitic clay, overlaid in patches with grey sandy loam. The Chardonnay and one of the Pinot blocks are 20 years old, the balance of the vineyard being planted ten years ago.
