The Minya Vineyard and Winery located at Connewarre, near Barwon Heads along the Great Ocean Road in the Bellarine wine district of Southern Victoria.
Minya Vineyard and Winery was established in 1974 by Jeff and Sue Dans, and the name "Minya" is an Aboriginal name meaning "Place of Many Birds" to preserve the heritage of the area.
Minya is a wonderful venue for fine wines and relaxing entertainment, overlooking
a tranquil and picturesque billabong. This makes the winery an ideal setting to enjoy a light meal, also to attend the summer concert series at the outdoor amphitheatre, or, this could be the ideal venue for your function, party or conference.
The Minya Wines of course must be sampled at the cellar door (open weekends only)
The Cabernet Sauvignon / Shiraz / Merlot has a vibrant colour with a delightful bouquet and rich fruit flavours. It is aged in new French and American oak barriques. The wine is drinking well now and also has excellent ageing potential.
Grenache is making a strong revival and ours are the only vines planted in this region. The wine is bright plum red in colour and has a very attractive dusty nose. Confectionary and raspberry flavours fill the palate. Grenache is great with pasta, perhaps served chilled on a hot day.
Chardonnay
The Minya Chardonnay is unoaked and shows the delightful and complex fruit flavours of perfectly ripened chardonnay. The wine is an excellent choice with seafood and white meats.
The Gewurztraminer has a fragrant bouquet, aromatic and lovely spice and a clean lingering finish. A dry wine, it is served best at cellar temperature or lightly chilled.
Last but not least, Minya cottage is in a secluded area of the vineyard overlooking the beautiful wetlands with abundant bird life. Accommodating 2 people, the cabin is clean, comfortable and serviced with basic gas appliances. At a very moderate price, the cabin is available for weekend getaways or even just a romantic night away.
