Tibooburra Vineyard in the Yarra Valley wine region of Victoria's Dandenong Ranges, in Melbourne Surrounds, was established in 1996 on north and north-westerly slopes next door to the original site of Chateau d'Yves, a vineyard which thrived in the district in the 1890s and into the early 1900s. Chateau d'Yves is long gone now but Tibooburra's plantings comprise: Pinot Noir 8 hectares; Chardonnay 7 hectares; Merlot 4 hectares; Sauvignon Blanc 7 hectares and Shiraz 7 hectares.

While most of Tibooburra's grapes are processed for the Oakridge Estate, Yering Station and Hardy Wines labels, a small portion of each harvest is selected for the Tibooburra label. Together the Tibooburra viticultural team - Greg Kerr and Patrick Watson - select parcels of fruit based on how well certain varieties perform in a particular vintage. Site selection and clonal differences are taken into account during this process. Grapes destined for the Tibooburra Vineyard label are hand harvested (often by family members) to ensure minimal mechanical interference and ultimately superior wines.

While beef and wine are Tibooburra's mainstays, the property received acclaim of a different kind in 2005 by becoming the first site in Victoria to unearth the elusive black truffle. About 750 grams of premium grade truffles were found on a site near the vineyard. Not only were these the first found in Victoria; never before in Australia have truffles beneath found beneath trees so young. Four generations of the Kerr family participated in the history-making harvest. As a family, they look forward to many harvests to come at Tibooburra.
