Welshmans Reef Vineyard is located in Welshmans Reef, in the Bendigo wine region of Victoria Goldfields, in Melbourne Surrounds.
Welshmans Reef (formerly Newstead) is a small hamlet in the old gold mining area of Victoria. Initial vine plantings were begun in 1986, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Semillon in unimproved sheep paddocks.
Since then the vineyard has grown and flourished. Chardonnay and Merlot were added in the early 1990's, and more recently small plantings of Sauvignon Blanc.
All wine sold under the Welshmans Reef Vineyard label is made from estate grown fruit.
Welshmans Reef Vineyard also provides contract winemaking for a growing number of grape producers, both large and small, from the local Goldfields area to as far afield as Mildura and Robinvale, the Pyrenees and the Yarra Valley.
Contract Bottling is also available for small and large batches.
Tastings are available from 10 am till 5 pm on weekends, and public holidays, and other days by appointment or by chance.
