Ocean Eight Vineyard and Winery, tucked away in Shoreham, is a hidden gem on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.
The elegant property set into the hillside is owned and operated by the Aylward family who established the Kooyong brand before selling it to Port Phillip Estate in 2004. Ocean Eight is their latest project and Michael Aylward is both manager and winemaker producing a small amount of high quality Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir each year. Luke O'Connor, originally from the Kooyong days, is the viticulturist at Ocean Eight.
Ocean Eight is named in honour of the eighth hole at The National Golf Club's Ocean course in Cape Schanck, a favourite of the winemaker.
These wines are available at select high profile restaurants in and around Sydney and Melbourne. Small amounts are also exported to the UK and Asia.
