Established in 1978, Smiths Vineyard is the oldest vineyard in the Beechworth wine region. The site overlooks the majestic vista of Mt Buffalo and the Victoria High Country.
Our method to making great wine is simple - let the vineyard do the talking. We have a philosophy of minimal impact viticulture.
We work hard to show the “terroir” of our region - our soil, climate and altitude. Old World techniques with a new world look.
Beechworth is situated at elevation on the continental side of the Victorian Alps. This allows for warm, sunny days to reliably ripen the crop, as well as cool nights, which temper any heat and produce wine grapes with natural balance and elegance.
The home vineyard sits at 550 metres above sea level, and it produces minerally, textured wines that just keep on giving!
The cellar door is open by appointment only in the winter months.
