Brown Brothers, Milawa, King Valley, Victoria have a wine to suit every palate

These wines are from one of Australia's First Families of Wine, Brown Brothers, who believe that wines are as different as the people who drink them. This has led them to explore new varieties and offer a range of comprehensive wines - of which these are just a few:

2008 Prosecco

This is the first release of the Brown Brothers Prosecco. The wine is part of their limited release range and will be available at Cellar Door and restaurants for this first release.  The Prosecco is another example of Brown Brothers innovation and experimentation as they bring more and more styles of wine to their portfolio.

The Prosecco has a pale gold colour with subtle green hues and a delicate nose displaying citrus, apple and pear characters.  These characters follow through to the palate which is fresh and crisp with tight natural acidity from the cool climate fruit.

Prosecco is made to drink young while at its light and delicate best.

Alcohol: 12.0%

2008 Pinot Grigio

In the glass the wine is a very light straw colour with a youthful green hue.  It boasts fresh aromas of citrus and pear, while the palate offers some distinct savoury characters and a crisp finish full of delicate acidity thanks to the cool climate fruit.  Unlike the French style which is richer and oilier, Pinot Grigio is crisp, fresh and savoury.

True to Pinot Grigio style, this is best served chilled and enjoyed within 1 to 3 years of the vintage.

Alcohol: 13%

Cienna Rosso

This is the first release of the Cienna Rosso and it follows on from the great success Brown Brothers have had with their frizzante Cienna. The Cienna Rosso is a full sparkling wine which boasts a vibrant magenta red colour and a bubble that almost jumps out of the glass. Fresh raspberries and strawberries dominate the nose along with a distinct leafy note hinting at Cienna’s Cabernet parentage. It has a creamy palate with plenty of natural acidity and juicy flavours reminiscent of summer berries in a glass.

Enjoy it young and well chilled.

Alcohol: 7.5%

2006 Tempranillo

Tempranillo is an innovative varietal for Brown Brothers that is now being released nationally for the third time due to its great success at Cellar Door.  The wine has been developed in the Brown Brothers “Kindergarten Winery” - a mini winery focused on trialling small batches of new varieties and different wine making techniques.

The 2006 Tempranillo is an elegant, medium bodied style of wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared in the short-term for further development.

Alcohol: 13.5%

2008 Shiraz

Drink now or cellar for the next few years. This supple medium-bodied Shiraz has gorgeous lifted aromas of red berry fruits, dried herbs, pepper and an alluring floral note.  On the palate you'll delight in the generous juicy fruit and a fine tannin structure.

This wine will gain complexity with the coming years.

Alcohol: 14.5%

2005 Shiraz, Mondeuse, Cabernet (Cellar Door Release)

First produced by John C Brown in 1954, the unique Shiraz, Mondeuse and Cabernet blend has become a Brown Brothers institution. Each of the three varieties brings different attributes and a wonderful marriage of flavours to the final blend.  Shiraz contributes spice and generous fruit; Mondeuse, deep colour, firm tannin and cellaring potential; while Cabernet gives backbone, elegance and length of flavour.

This 2005 release boasts a deep inky colour with red hues. Aromas of red berry, spice, liquorice and earthiness dominate the nose. The palate is rich, concentrated and intense, with the characteristic grippy tannins of the classic blend.

If cellared correctly this wine will be great for another 12 years or more from vintage.

Alcohol: 13.5%
