Mayford Wines win AAVWS trophy

Tempranillo is Show's best wine

Mayford Wines of North Eastern Victoria has won the Australian Alternative Variety Wine Show Trophy for Best Wine (and Best Red) for their 2006 Tempranillo, a new(ish) - to Australia - Spanish grape variety.

Other winners include one of Australia's greatest wine bargains, Tahbilk Marsanne (2004), as Best White, the 2006 David Hook Barbera and 2008 Dal Zotto Arneis as Best Italian Varietals, Kathleen Quealy's 2008 Quealy Senza Nome Tocai Fruilano as 'Chairman's Wine to Watch', the 2008 Trentham Estate La Familgia Pinot Grigio as best Murray Darling Wine Region wine, and the Stewards' Coice the 2008 Coriole Fiano.
