Beautiful music in beautiful locations - that is what the Murray River International Music Festival is all about.
The Fine Music Festival began as an initiative of Stefano de Pieri and Helen Healy and has been running for 7 years. Each year Sergio de Pieri, who was awarded an OAM for his contribution to music, embarks on his annual pilgrimage to Mildura, bringing with him marvellous virtuosi from Italy.
Each day of the program provides world class performances combined with master-classes, workshops and school visits. The artists perform in a variety of venues ranging from riverside settings to inland gardens, wineries to regional arts venues. The Murray River International Music Festival provides a dynamic program of performances at Mildura, Wentworth, Balranald, Swan Hill, Cohuna and Shepparton venues, providing regional food and wine experiences.
The 2012 Festival opens with a performance of the Interpreti Veneziani in one of the most beautiful gardens in regional Australia. Patrons at this opening concert will experience an unforgettable night and be transported from the banks of the Murray to Venice by the finest Vivaldi players in the world who have an indisputable reputation in Venice where they play over 350 concerts a year.
The festival continues with performances by Deborah Cheetham (Soprano) & Short Black Opera; Roberto Fabbriciani (flute): Massimo Scattolin (Guitar): Josephine Vains (Cello); Luisella Botteon (Guest Speaker); The Stilletto Sisters and The Cauldron to name just a few.
