Vintara is operated by Lisa and Michael Murtagh. Michael and Lisa were born just down the road (Michael literally married the girl next door) from the Vintara vineyard, having worked in the wine business for over 20 years both in Australia and in many parts of the world, they returned to setup Vintara and reside in the Rutherglen region.
Michael makes the beers and the wines as well as managing the 50 hectares of vineyards, Lisa manages the office and general operations.
Gavin Swalwell, our chef, moved from Melbourne six years ago to run the kitchen at a renowned local restaurant and has never looked back. Gavin's love of traditional flavours, using local products and then presenting them in a contemporary way lifts the food at Vintara to great heights.
Steve Wallace our cellar door and brewery bar manager has over 25 years experience in managing Rutherglen cellar doors and his expertise in our wines and those of the region make him a great guy to talk to about wine and the region, where to stay and what to do.
