In April 2011, the historic churches of Hamilton and surrounds are transformed into concert halls for the annual Southern Grampians Promenade of Sacred Music Festival.
Running over 4 days, the Promenade of Sacred Music presents a first class line up of locally, nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians. Artistic Direction is by renowned organist and conductor Douglas Lawrence OAM.
The combination of professional and local performers provides both local people and visitors of the region with the opportunity to enjoy high-calibre and world class performances in beautiful and unique venues. It also provides a stage for which our local amateur artists can perform with and learn from the professional artists invited to be part of the festival.
The Adelaide singers were an extremely popular component of the 2010 Programme and the Promenade Committee are excited to welcome them back in 2011. Adelaide Chamber Singers has built a substantial reputation wherever it has performed and is widely regarded as one of Australia's leading chamber choirs.
Also performing is La Compania, who have a reputation with their audiences and critics for presenting innovative programs and dynamic performances.
The Percussion Spectacular by Andy Rigby and Leanne Barber, brings together young musicians from many schools in the district to create a unique musical event.
This exciting program for 2011 encompasses some spectacular performers, so invite your friends to visit Hamilton and experience the splendour and excitement of this rather unique Festival, the Promenade of Sacred Music 2011, Music that lifts the spirit and feeds the soul.
