Hand crafted wine and beer, a bicycle rail trail to the door, alpine views from the cellar door and café and your own farm-stay apartment set in amongst it all. Boyntons Feathertop Winery in Victoria's High Country has it all...

About Boyntons Feathertop Winery

Established in 1989 by Kel Boynton, Boyntons Feathertop Winery has evolved into a successful regional family enterprise offering you a tasty spread of products and experiences to delight the senses and tickle your tastebuds.

Three years ago, Boyton Winery released the Feathertop wine label, honouring the nearby 1922m high Mt Feathertop. Not only does it dominate the alpine scenery, the mountain also defines the vineyards’ soil structure, influences the air currents and provides a steady stream of alpine water used for irrigation. It is indeed the rock upon which Boyntons is built.

Boyntons Feathertop’s other rock is the dynamic Kel and Janelle Boyton and their dedicated team, who have shaped the winery into the high quality destination it has become today.

What will I find here?

Lots!

The cellar door is open daily 10am to 5pm for (in whichever order you most enjoy), wine tasting, Witham’s coffee, deli small goods and Boynton’s Beer.

If you’re riding the rail trails, Boynton’s is a leisurely 10km from Bright and 20km from Myrtleford – perfect distances for working up an appetite for lunch at Boynton’s Feathertop Café. The cafe is open Spring through Autumn and features a range of regional produce on the menu, some direct from the garden.

For guests visiting in Winter or just keen to lunch 'picnic style', you are encouraged to pick up supplies from the deli section and create your own gourmet feast. Weather dependent, picnic on the deck or in front of the warming fireplace.

And if you’ve ever dreamed of living on a working winery, book the farm-stay apartment. It’s your choice whether to simply set up a tab downstairs and relax glass in hand or if you are so inclined, to get your hands dirty amongst it all. After a hard day’s work, relax in the spa bath or realign your chakras with your own in-house massage therapist (available on request).

What should I ask to try?

The property’s alpine climate and varied aspects have allowed Kel Boynton to grow over 15 grape varieties across the property. Here you’ll find a few of the usual finely crafted suspects from sauvignon blanc to cabernet sauvignon, ensure you challenge your tastebuds however and taste some of the alternative varieties on offer including vermentino, savignin and verdelho.

It takes quite a bit of beer to make a good wine and you’ll find a small number of wineries producing their own these days. Kel Boynton creates an excellent selection including Boynton’s Lager available on tap in cellar door and a Pilsner, Ale and ‘Driver Light’ (with your designated driver in mind), all available in stubbies.

Ask to try Kel's very exciting new fortified wine 'Lush'. Made from a parcel of very ripe and partially raisined shiraz grapes, the creation of Lush was inspired by Kel's visit to the Jerez region (the home of sherry) in Spain. Kel has called it Lush, simply because it is.

What’s On?

Guest chefs are invited to Boynton’s throughout the year to create five to eight course lunches matched with Feathertop wines. These are very popular events so keep your eyes on Boynton’s and VisitVineyards.com’s events pages for upcoming events and further information.
