Muscat grapes from Campbells Winery, Rutherglen
Campbells have received the highest accolade for a fortified wine at the 2010 Rutherglen Wine Show, taking home the trophy for Best Australian Fortified Wine of Show.
The accolade was for the Campbell's Merchant Prince Rare Rutherglen Muscat, which also won the Trophy for Best Australian Fortified Muscat.
The complex and elegant Merchant Prince captures the rich purity of intense raisin fruit with nutty rancio complexity, which comes from lengthy maturation in oak casks.
For the first time this year the Rutherglen Wine Show incorporated The Australian Fortified Wine Show, and the team at Campbells is thrilled to have the honour of receiving the highest award in its inaugural year.
Earlier this year Campbells Merchant Prince Rare Rutherglen Muscat was the first Australian wine to score a perfect 100 points in the Wine Spectator magazine.
It is available from the cellar door for $110 for a 375 ml bottle.
