Two and a half hours drive south east of Perth on the Albany Highway is the historic town of Arthur River, which dates back to the early 1850s.

Arthur River's past is evoked by the town's grand buildings, many of which have been restored.

The Arthur Wool Shed, which dates back to the 1950s, is a community shearing shed established so that local farmers could bring their sheep to one central location at shearing time. Extensive restoration work has been undertaken on this building and it is now listed as a heritage building.

Lake Towerrinning is a 256 hectare phenomenon close to, but not directly part of, the Arthur River. The lake is ideal for all water sports including skiing, and has a barbecue and picnic spot.

Old Kitchen Mount Pleasant Inn is located at Arthur River. The Inn was built in 1869 to cater for travellers, shepherds, sandalwood cutters and settlers.

Farm stays and backpacker accommodations are available.
