Koolama Estate is located in Smithbrook, near Manjimup in Western Australia South West.
It occupies 34 hectares nestled amongst the Karri forest just 13 kilometres from Manjimup town centre. The vineyard was initially planted in 1999 as a premium grape producer, supplying the majority of the earlier harvests to the Petaluma Wine Group.
In 2005, the small syndicate of wine lovers involved in the ownership of Koolama decided to venture into the competitive world of wine production. The Koolama Estate label was then developed for the 2006 vintage.
Since then, the label has won numerous awards including Gold in the Chardonnay class and 'The Chairman's Award for the Wine of the show' at the 2009 Sheraton Perth WA Wine Awards.
Prior to this the label won Best Chardonnay, Best White Wine & Wine of the show at the RSM Bird Cameron Timber Towns Regional Wine Show in 2009.
In addition to these awards, the chardonnay was also featured in the 'Sheraton Dozen' a selection of some of the states best wines as judged by a panel including Ray Jordan and John Hanley who is one of Australia's most experienced judges.
The vineyard has been consistently producing excellent fruit and is expected to continue to build on the success it has already achieved.
The vineyard is not open to the public but wines are available to purchase online or at selected retail outlets in Perth and the Pemberton region. Check the Koolama Estate website for further details.
