The Vancouver Store and Café in Albany will host a unique exhibition of papercuts by renowned Albany artist Sue Codee.
This exhibition of delicate paper cut works are based on stories of family, place, community, human fragility and vulnerability, and employ both personal and universal themes.
Her passion for the art of paper cut has been influenced by extensive travel in Asia partly where paper cut originates, and a need to create 'slow art' in order to 'slow life'.
The handmade paper cuts require an attention to detail and steady hand that create an incredibly meditative and focused state resulting in a strong personal connection to the work.
The designs stem from the subconscious world of intuition, dreams and imagination and are playful musings on life, friends, family, place and community. They're a blend of design, craft, folk art, storytelling and contemporary paper art.
